At dawn in Norway’s fjords, a massive bull orca surged alongside our boat, rising through the dark water as if challenging us to a race. Lofoten’s waters were once threatened by oil drilling, but sustained public action helped secure their protection. Seeing this orca in those protected waters is a reminder that the work to defend wild places can make a real difference.
