A procession of king penguins shuffles through the stark landscape of the Southern Ocean. Life here demands remarkable resilience, from freezing temperatures and powerful currents to the growing pressures of climate change. Yet as they marched past me, calling and holding their wings out at their sides, the colony felt full of energy and life.
