Ice Castle
North Pole, 2017
While on an expedition to the North Pole, my team and I made our way through a winding maze of icy turrets and glass sculptures before coming across this frozen fortress The ice at its base glowed faintly in the pale, polar light while its castellated ridges shed silent tufts of snow. I stood mesmerized by nature’s delicate craftsmanship, too stunned to even shiver in the frigid cold. Below the ocean’s surface, I knew the world was cracking under the pressure of a warming climate, but even in her most fragile state nature is undeniably beautiful.
