The Traveler
Bahamas, 2020
Far from the white, crescent beaches and mangrove forests, I came across this solitary sea turtle roaming between seagrass meadows. It tipped its head slightly in my direction, like a nod of acknowledgment, before pressing its nose to the surface for a quick breath. I kicked softly alongside my new companion and tried to imagine the great migrations it must have endured throughout its life across the high seas.
